Girls Thrive offers three sessions per year, and engages in a variety of community events during our "off season."
Our program year follows the school year, so we count the fall program as the start of our season. The fall session runs for 8 weeks, starting in the beginning of September and wrapping up at the end of October. Girls can register to participate on running days only (Tuesdays), cross-training days only (Thursdays), mountain biking days only (Saturdays), or some combination of the three.
On cross-training days we try out sports like swimming, yoga, rock climbing, and kickboxing. Each of three program days include time for a lesson from either the Respect360 or Beauty Redefined curricula and discussion about the topic for the day with the girls.
We get creative during the winter; instead of mountain biking and running, we enjoy activities like rock climbing, skiing, hiking, and taking time for classes on other important topics like cooking healthy meals and how to nourish our bodies with good food.
The winter session runs for 4 weeks, from January through February, and we try to schedule the activities on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
We will be taking a short break in 2019, which means we won’t be holding our winter session. Our 100% volunteer-operated organization has some strategic planning to do to prep for an awesome spring session, and we are giving our much-loved Coach (and Executive Director) Blair some time to get to know her new baby boy! We’ll see you in Spring 2019.
Our spring session represents the end of our season. It is set up with the same schedule as the fall season, with activities on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays (running, cross-training, and mountain biking, respectively). Girls can sign up to participate on one, two, or all three of the activity days. We incorporate the the Respect360 and Beauty Redefined curricula throughout.
The last event of the spring session is the Governor's Cup race, where the girls who are interested can choose to either run or volunteer.
